Kate’s recent work is abstract collage, using acrylic and watercolour. Each piece seeks to find an energy and balance between weights, colours, and edges both hard and soft. She uses tissues and Japanese papers allowing for the layering of colour so that a sense of depth can be achieved.
Trained at the University of Exeter (English and Fine Art ) and the City and Guilds School of Art.
Kate has had a varied career as an artist and potter, including working as a lettering artist and designer in publishing. She is a professional member of the Craft Potters Association, and has exhibited on a number of occasions at Ceramic Art London. Galleries include the Contemporary Ceramics Centre, Piers Feetham Gallery and The Lettering Arts Trust in Snape.
Recent Exhibitions include: Group show at The Dovedale Festival Cumbria 2018; A three person show at The Bankside Gallery 2018; The Discerning Eye at the Mall Galleries 2018; The RWS Contemporary Watercolour Competition 2019 (winner of the St Cuthberts Mill Award).
